Luong Van Can Fund kicked off the Mentorship program, academic year 2022-2023

On November 6th, Luong Van Can Fund organized the Mentorship Kick-off program for mentors and mentees in the academic year 2022-2023. This year,  the program was conducted via Zoom with mentors from various industries, and more than 140 Luong Van Can Fund students.

Mentorship is an annual program to connect Luong Van Can Fund students with caring individualṣ (Mentors)  who are ready to listen and give encouragement and support to the students. Since then, the program will create an opportunity for the students to improve their abilities and contribute to society and community development

There were 2 sessions in the Kick-off program: one for Mentors and one for Mentees in the morning, and the other was on the same evening of November 6th. In the first session with Mentors, Luong Van Can Fund had the opportunity to discuss in detail the schedule of activities and orientation for which the Mentorship program is aiming. This year, Luong Van Can Fund kindly welcomed the contribution of 28 new Mentors whose professions vary from natural sciences to business & finance. Mentors also had time to get to know each other and share experiences of accompanying previous students in an open-hearted manner.

In the afternoon of the same day, Luong Van Can Fund organized the first meeting with the mentees. This Kick-off session covered 3 points below:

  • Guidelines for the Initial Meeting and Matching Process for the Mentorship Program in the 2022-2023 academic year;
  • Thematic activity “How to become a good Mentee” through the sharing of 5 working groups;
  • Answering mentee’s questions.

At the start, Mr. Nguyen Trieu Trung, a member of Luong Van Can Fund BoM, discussed with mentees how to make the most out of the program. Mr Trung covered the following topics: (1) rules for participation, (2) meeting with mentors in advance, (3) signing up for teams and some suitable ways to organize meetings.

Besides, the new theme for the Kick-off program, “How to be a good mentee,” was presented by the mentees in previous years. Five student groups helped the others become more motivated to improve themselves and more prepared to exchange information with a mentor by sharing valuable experiences learned through working with mentors over the academic year 2021–2022.

Finally, in the Q&A session, Luong Van Can Fund BoM together with several groups from last year’s Mentorship program, answered students’ questions about the program and how to accomplish related goals. Hopefully, the experiences gained from the upcoming Mentorship program will increase students’ self-confidence and link them with qualified “Companions” to help them on their future journey.

With clear orientations and plans and an energetic attitude from both Mentee and Mentor, Luong Van Can Fund expects the program to provide students with the opportunity to learn more from their mentors and contribute to society and the LVCF students community.
