Adelaide Scholarship

Luong Van Can Fund hereby announces the opening of applications for Scholarships of Graduate Courses at University of Adelaide (Australia)

Scholarship Description

Candidates can choose to apply for a PhD course OR a Master course offered by University of Adelaide within studies of science (natural, physical, and environmental), health sciences, engineering and technology. Fields include the basic sciences, such as mathematics, biology, chemistry, and physics, as well as agricultural science. The scholarship is up to 100% (tuition fees & living expenses) depending on quality of applications.

Expected course beginning: August 2016

- Duration: 2 years (for Master programs) and 4 years (for PhD programs).

- Number of scholarship: 02 (for Master position) and 03 (for PhD position).

Please refer to the University of Adelaide website for the list of studies supported by LVCF and University of Adelaide, note that the scholarships sponsor studies of science, health sciences, engineering and technology.

Scholarship award will be evaluated on an annual basis to ensure fairness and transparency. The scholarship recipient that ceases to meet scholarship criteria set by Luong Van Can Fund and University of Adelaide during his/her programs of study (regarding academic or disciplinary standing) will forfeit his/her scholarship award. During the period of scholarship award, the scholarship recipient is required to submit grade and semester reports to the Scholarship Board and Fund Management Council.

Candidate Eligibility

Candidates that fulfill the following criteria are eligible to apply for a Luong Van Can scholarship:

Master

- Be a Vietnamese national, residing within Vietnam

- Priority for candidates from disadvantaged backgrounds

- Graduation from university with a Bachelor’s Degree

- Minimum 2 years of professional experience relevant to the chosen field of study

- Minimum GPA of 7.5 (on a scale of 10, or the equivalent)

Minimum IELTS score of 7.0, or the equivalent

 

PhD

- Be a Vietnamese national, residing within Vietnam

- Priority for candidates from disadvantaged backgrounds

- Holding a relevant Master degree from a recognized university which includes, as a minimum, a research component comprising at least 30% of the total credit

- Minimum 2 years of professional experience (preferably research experience) relevant to the chosen field of study

- Minimum GPA (Master) of 6.5 (on a scale of 10, or the equivalent)

- Minimum IELTS score of 7.0, or the equivalent

Application Forms and Procedures

Application form (here), in which applicants are required to attached all the following documents (from 2 to 7)

2. Official Bachelor’s/ Master’s transcript certified by the School Board or district.

3. 01 Personal Statement written in English (no more than 1000 words, Times New Roman font, font size 12, with the candidate’s full name and signature).

In this letter, candidates need to address (but not limit to) the following two main subjects:

- Academic experience and plans for study, including (but not limited to) the following: field of research and why, applications and contributions of the field of study, specific research proposals (if applicable), and any relevant experience the candidate has accumulated.

- Personal characteristics that demonstrate the candidate is worthy of receiving the scholarship, including (but not limited to) the following: capability of work and research, personal goals, participation and/or leadership experience in extracurricular activities, community service initiatives, work experience (if any, including internships or volunteer positions), dedication to contributing to the community, to the growth of Vietnam.

4. 02 Letters of Recommendation, including 01 letter from a teacher, professor, academic instructor, research supervisor, manager, or work supervisor related to the candidate’s field of study.

These references must know the candidate for at least a period of one year, and must grasp the candidate’s academic prowess and professional experience. Letters of Recommendation should explore the different facets of the candidate, in order to present the candidate’s exceptional abilities.

Letters of Recommendation (in either Vietnamese or English), must be written on official letterhead and include the reference’s signature and contact details (email address, telephone number and office address).

5. A copy of Bachelor/ Master Diploma.

6. English language proficiency certification as required.

7. Awards: copies of any certificates of academic achievements, extracurricular activities, or work experience.

Note:

- For documents and certifications issued in English, candidates may submit either the original or a copy certified by the relevant authorities.

- For documents and certifications not issued in English, English translations must be submitted and certified, accompanied by the original (or a certified copy) in Vietnamese for reference (the original copies are only required to be sent by post, not by attaching to the online application form).

Scholarship Selection Process

Round 1: Candidates submit applications (as outlined above) to Luong Van Can Fund

Round 2: Successful candidates from the first round will be nominated by LVCF to apply for University of Adelaide

Round 3: Successful candidates from the second round will participate in an interview round with the LVCF Selection Committee. Successful candidates from this round will be awarded the Luong Van Can Scholarship to study at University of Adelaide.

Selection Criteria

In alignment with the vision of Luong Van Can Scholarships, scholarships shall be awarded to candidates determined to be eligible and worthy based on academic ability, academic achievements, and academic goals aligning with the above requirements. Scholarship awards do not discriminate on the basis of region, race, religion, or gender. In particular, a successful candidate must:

Fulfill all academic entrance requirements set by University of Adelaide and by Luong Van Can Fund.

- Clearly and logically present their personal academic and life goals.

- Demonstrate their motivation and efforts to achieve their goals as described.

- Demonstrate leadership ability and a desire to contribute to the community.

- Verify his or her (family’s or personal) disadvantaged background and need for outside support for continued education.

- Demonstrate a commitment to continuing efforts during the period of scholarship and thereafter.

JVN-LVCF Scholarship

JVN-LVCF POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP
YEAR 2017-2018

John Von Neumann Institute (JVN) (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City) and Luong Van Can (LVCF) are looking for JVN-LVCF postgraduate scholars.

Scholarship Description

Applicants can choose to apply to either Master courses which organise and educate by JVN Institute:

- Master Degree in Computer Science - Information and Communication Technology, Data Analysis Science (ICT)

- Master Degree in Applied Mathematics, Quantitative and Computational Finance (QCF).

Value of the scholarship

100% school tuition for 2-year-study program JVN Institute

- Starting day: from September 2017 to November 2019.

- Duration of the program: 2 years

- Number of scholarships: 10

The scholarship will be reconsidered each yearin order to ensure transparency and fairness. Applicants who fail to achieve all the requirements of JVN and LVCF (academic performance, behaviour, participation in LVCF’s activity and English level) will not continue receiving the scholarship. During the time receiving the scholarship, applicants have to send their academic record periodically to The enrollment secretariat and the Fund Management Council

Applicants for Scholarship

Applicants who meet all of these requirements can apply to JVN-LVCF Scholarship:

- Applicants who apply to 2 majors of JVN enrollment period in 2017.

- Being a citizen of Vietnam, living in Vietnam.

- Priority is given to candidates with excellent academic performance and / or difficult family circumstances.

3. A letter confirming difficult circumstances from the locality (if applicants are in difficult situation)

For candidates who enroll in the second round in 2017:

1. Scholarship application form: This form.

2. Application for Postgraduate program: Follow JVN Institute's application form and guidance. Only submit one application for both admission process and JVN-LVCF scholarship enrollment. Exceptionally, for the study plan in this application, applicants should state clearly (with no restrain) the main factors:

- The requirements mentioned in JVN Institute's records

- Financial difficulties, the desire to receive JVN-LVCF scholarship and the reason why.

3. Certificates of merit, academic achievements, extracurricular activities, work experience (if any)

4. A letter confirming difficult circumstances from the locality (if applicants are in difficult circumstances)

Scholarship selection process

- Step 1: Applicants submit their application as instructed above, JVN Institute recruits candidate according to announced criteria.

- Step 2: Selection Council interviews applicants who pass step 1.

- Step 3: Candidates who pass step 2 will receive JVN-LVCF scholarships at JVN.

Selection criteria

For the aims of JVN-LVCF Scholarship, scholarships will be awarded to suitably qualified applicants, based on their abilities, academic achievements, work experience and their goals which meet all the requirements mentioned above. Scholarships are regardless of region, ethnicity, religion or gender. In particular, a successful applicant should at least:

- Meet the criteria of academic and experience required by JVN and LVCF.

- Show clearly, coherently your goals in learning and in their life.

- Express your effort and self-trial to achieve your goals.

- Demonstrate leadership and desire, ability to contribute to the community.

- Demonstrate family's and / or their difficulties circumstances, and need support to continue pursue their education (in case the applicant needs financial aid).

- Demonstrated the desire to continue making effort during the scholarship, and later.

Note

- Applicants who wish to receive financial support to study for Master's programs at JVN, in addition to the 100% scholarships, can apply for the support (refundable) from The Endowment Fund which is a joint program between JVN and LVCF Candidates applying for 100% of tuition fees scholarship, if wish to be considered for the form of Endownment in case fail to have 100% tuition scholarship, need to state clearly in the Letter of Intent for the Recruitment Counci to choose.

JVN- LVCF Endowment Fund

TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (REPAYABLE, NO INTEREST)
JVN-LVCF ENDOWMENT FUND
SCHOOLYEAR 2017 - 2018

John Von Neumann Institute (JVN) (Vietnam National University) and Luong Van Can Fund (LVCF) have announced the application for the Tuition Assistance Program (repayable) funded by Endowment Fund.

Applicants who are in needs of financial support to pursue one of two Master programs at John Von Neumann Institute (JVN), Vietnam National University, in addition to the Full-tuition scholarships, can apply for the assistance (repayable, no interest) from Endowment Fund that is in the collaborative partnership between LVCF and JVN. This assistance is for students who are expected to begin their program at JVN in 9/2017 and for current Master students at JVN.

Program

Applicants can choose to attend one of the two Master programs that are orgranized and trained by JVN Institute.

- Master of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

- Master of Quantitative and Computational Finance (QCF).

Coverage

Endowment Fund’s assistance will cover tuition expense (fully or partially) for applicants in their academic program period depending on the applicants’ expectations.

Number of assistance rewards

Endowment Fund expects to award 10 financial assistance winners (repayable, no interest) in the school year 2017-2018.

Requirements

Applicants who meet all of these requirements can apply to Endowment Fund JVN-LVCF:

- Applicants who apply to one of two Master programs at JVN Institute.

- Being a Vietnamses citizen, a permanent resident in Vietnam.

- Priority to applicants with excellent academic ability and/or in difficult circumstances.

Repayment Period

The applicants of financial assistance from Endowment Fund must make the repayment no more than 2 years after the date of completing their academic program (2 years). In the circumstances in which applicants can not complete their academic program as a requirement: probation, suspension, paticipation in the exchange program with partners of the institute, applicants must make the repayment no more than 1 year after the date of ending their study at JVN.

Application Time

Applicants can apply for the financial assistance from Endowment Fund at any time in the academic period (at the beginning of the program or in the program period) with the assistance duration depending on the applicants’ expectations (one or more semesters).

2. Letter of Movitation: (no more than 1000 words, Times New Roman font, word size of 12, signed, full name). In this letter, applicants are required to demonstrate (but not limit in) three major points:

- Experience and academic plan, including (but not limit in): the reason to choose the academic program, and relevant experience.

- Personal characteristics that demonstrate  applicants’ appropriateness to the program, including (but not limit in): plan in 5 years, social activities, work experience (if available, for example part-time jobs or volunteer jobs), commitment and desired contributions to the community and the country Vietnam.

- Demonstrate their financial difficultites, currently in need of tuition assistance (repayable) and their reasons.

3. A letter confirming difficult circumstances from the locality (if available)

Important Notes:

- In general, applicants for the repayable financial assistance from Endowment Fund complete the admission application for Mater programs at JVN Institute as required,  and attach to it the Repayable financial assistance application form. For current students who have attended the institute at least one semester and want to apply for the finanical assistance (repayable, no interest), complete forms and other documents from number 1 to 3.

- For the full-tuition scholarship applicants who want to be considered for the Endowment financial assistance if not granted the scholarship, please clearly present in your Letter of Motivation.
